Welcome to the Great Lakes Cruising Club School!

As we enter our third year of webinar offerings you’ll find an exciting, significantly expanded and upgraded line up of live classes to choose from. In addition to our live webinars, this year we’ll also periodically make available recordings of popular prior webinars for your registration and viewing.

We’re pleased to welcome several new faculty members to our team, now numbering almost thirty instructors. You may already be familiar with some of our newer faculty members: Sheila McCurdy, past Commodore of the Cruising Club of America, National Faculty Chair for US Sailing, and advisor to the US Naval Academy’s Sailing Program; Bruce Liese, Instructor Evaluator for the American Sailing Association, four time recipient of their Outstanding Instructor of the Year Award, and  frequent speaker at national boat shows and similar functions; Pam Wall, circumnavigator, frequent energetic seminar presenter at national boat shows and other major events, and spokesperson for West Marine, to name just three.

Both GLCC members and non-members alike are invited to register and participate in all classes.

Finally, we’re excited to also announce a new reciprocal education agreement with both the United States Power Squadrons and the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, under which USPS and CPS members can enjoy the same member discounts on GLCCSchool webinars as Great Lakes Cruising Club members. Getting Started: Register Now for the GLCCSchool

To become a student at the GLCC School you must register. Even Great Lakes Cruising Club members will need to register for classes on this site. Registration is simple and free -- just click the "Create an Account" link under the Guest Login menu at the upper left of your screen. This is a one-time process to create a User Name and Password. You'll be sent an email. Click the link in the email to confirm your registration.

After opening an account you'll also be periodically notified by email as new webinars are scheduled. 

Signing up for Webinars

To register for a class you must be logged into this site with your GLCCSchool User Name and Password. After logging in, just click on a course in either the "Upcoming Live Events" or "Re-Released Recordings" menus to the left of your screen. When the course comes up hit REGISTER, and continue with the registration and secure payment process. All classes are interactive and presented live over the internet. 

Unless otherwise indicated, webinar sessions run between 60 and 90 minutes. Classes are very affordable. As a non-profit service to the Great Lakes boating community, our sponsoring organization, the Great Lakes Cruising Club, tries to keep registration costs as low as possible while covering presentation hosting and instructional costs.

Can't make a live webinar? All registered participants receive a link to the recorded webinar for access after the live event. After the live presentation you can still register for a webinar to gain access to the live recording, however note that the webinar date shown when registering for a recorded webinar is actually the last date you can register for its recording. Recorded webinars can be viewed at any time within about six weeks of the live event. Instructors are also accessible via email during this period to take your questions.

Computer Requirements and Help

All you need to participate is a computer (Windows, Mac or Linux) with speakers, a browser, and a reasonable speed internet connection. After registering for a class you will receive a purchase confirmation and email with instructions for attending the course. To ensure that your ISP or email reader do not treat this as junk mail, we suggest adding the address to your safe senders list before enrolling for your first GLCCSchool webinar. Your email with webinar attendance instructions will also contain a link to test your system. Please click that link prior to attending your first webinar.
