Todd Miller

With his wife Susan, Todd has extensively sailed the Great Lakes and Caribbean. He currently lives on Lake Superior's north shore, serving as GLCC Deputy Port Captain for Grand Marais, MN. Presently building a cruising powerboat, Todd teaches boat building and restoration.

While Todd was growing up he spent his weekends messing about in small fishing boats on any number of Minnesota's 10,000+ lakes. He began sailing in the 1970's as a Boy Scout, and has restored a number of boats over the intervening years. In 2000 he and his wife Susan moved aboard Snow Day, their 35 foot sloop, beginning a cruising odyssey that took them from Duluth, MN, at the western end of Lake Superior, to Honduras and back. By 2005 they were back in their new home of Grand Marais on Minnesota's Lake Superior North Shore, where they currently reside and are again cruising Lake Superior.

In Grand Marais Todd opened The Grand Marais Boathouse, a business focused on building and restoring boats. Between other activities he's currently beginning construction on a 24 foot Alaskan fishing boat with cruising amenities on which Susan and he hope to explore the shores of Lake Superior a little farther afield than his sailboat and available time currently allow.

Todd is the Great Lakes Cruising Club Deputy Port Captain for Grand Marais, MN, and is also active on the local Park Board which oversees the Grand Maris Marina and harbor. He teaches a variety of boat building and restoration classes at his Grand Marais Boathouse facility.
