Tony and Sharon Simion

Tony and Sharion have been lifelong Great Lakes boaters, both sail and power. They are members of the Great Lakes Cruising Club (GLCC) and America’s Great Loop Cruising Association (AGLCA).
Tony and Sharon, are both retired elementary school teachers hence the name of our boat is  "Summer Recess". We have been boating on Lake St Clair, Lake Huron and Lake Erie for 32 years. We  started with a 22 ft Rhodes Continental on Anchor Bay and moved to a 27 ft Catalina and after eighteen  years we went to the dark side and purchased a Mainship Nantucket cruiser. After we retired, we  bought our present boat, a Mainship 390 Trawler, which allowed us to travel greater distances on both  Lake Huron and Lake Erie. We completed the Great Loop on July 18, 2014, after spending 303 days and  traveling over 5400 miles on the water. We have now traveled the length of four of the Great Lakes. We  are also members of the Birmingham Squadron of USPS. We have both taken both classes and seminars  offered by the Squadron. Tony has passed all the classes offered by the Power Squadron up to and  including Advanced Piloting course work.
