Diesel Essentials For The First Mate

Body
We all know how important a smooth running engine is to our cruising adventures. But how many crew members on your boat know to keep your engine happy?

The old saying goes "two heads are better than one." On any cruising boat that is particularly true. Whether it’s weather forecasting, navigation, cruise planning, or clearing Customs, if you have more than one person dealing with the details, the chances of a making a good decision jump exponentially. The same goes with your diesel engine, but all too often the First Mate has little engine mechanical experience.

To fill that knowledge gap we invite you to join the owner of Great Lakes Diesel and master mechanic, Jim Zima, as he walks you through the basic steps of daily diesel engine maintenance. Jim will teach the crucial basics any crew member can learn and immediately put to use. When it comes to keeping your diesel engine happy, an extra set of eyes, ears and hands is invaluable. Join Jim and learn how to become your boat’s indispensible Assistant Engineering Officer.
