Most visitors never experience the unique geology and natural wonders found throughout the island. Discover the island’s geologic history along with photos and explanations of the amazing rock formations that made Mackinac Island America’s 2nd national park.

The Native Americans held Mackinac Island as sacred ground. This presentation includes the ancient legends that explained the unique geologic wonders to the Native Americans .

Meet The Instructor

Steve Wyckoff
Steve is a retired teacher and Technology Director. He is a member, and former Commodore, of the Grand Traverse Yacht Club and has sailed the northern Great Lakes, the North Channel, parts of the Caribbean, and Washington’s San Juan Islands.
